Carol Maurer, Accompanist

Carol Maurer - Accompanist4.jpg

Carol’s love for the piano began in early childhood. With a deeply musical family—vaudeville performers on her father’s side and a strong tradition of music on her mother’s—she was surrounded by inspiration. A few note-reading sessions with her mother helped launch a blend of playing by ear and tackling ambitious pieces beyond her years. By age 10, she officially began lessons after discovering Chopin and realizing she couldn’t quite ‘sound out’ his music.

Her passion for piano and choral music continued through college, where she studied music theory, sang in choirs and pursued advanced piano studies. She earned a minor in music from Concordia College, Moorhead, MN.

For over 40 years, Carol has shared her musical gift as an accompanist for choirs, church services, solos, ensembles, and community events. She believes a great accompanist enhances the choir’s performance—supporting, enriching and elevating the vocalists and director.

By day, Carol is a global process analyst for CHS, the largest U.S. agricultural cooperative. Outside of work, she and her husband are rejuvenating Bumblebee Orchard, which they purchased in 2023.

Carol was thrilled to join Unexpected Company Chorale as their accompanist in September 2023 and loves making music with them.
